A calm, tidy bookkeeping office in warm afternoon light
About · Aldergate Books

A small firm that keeps the quiet part quiet.

We’re the people who close your books by the 10th, run payroll on time, and send one short note instead of a dozen. The rest, you’ll scarcely notice — which is rather the point.

Looking after the studios, trades, and clinics of the Peninsula.

01

We started because the 10th kept slipping.

Aldergate Books began at a kitchen table off Macarthur Ave, helping two neighbours — a cabinetmaker and a physical therapist — who were brilliant at their work and quietly dreading the last week of every month. Receipts in a shoebox, payroll run at midnight, a knot in the stomach come quarter-end.

So we built a steadier way to do it. Books closed by the 10th. Payroll on the dot. One short note a month — the sort you can actually read between appointments. No hourly meter, no surprise invoice, no spreadsheet avalanche.

Today we look after studios, trades, and clinics across the Peninsula — all from the same office, with the same care we gave those first two neighbours.

How we keep our side of the ledger.

01

Anticipate, don’t ask

We’d rather notice the gap before you do. Questions are gathered and answered in one place, so nothing lands on your desk that didn’t have to.

02

Plain language, always

A profit-and-loss you can read standing up, and a cash-flow note written in sentences — not jargon. You’ll know what matters and what can wait.

03

A price you agree to once

Every engagement is a flat monthly fee, settled on the first call. No hourly meter running while you think out loud, no invoice that surprises you.

04

Discretion, by default

Patient billing, payroll figures, the numbers that keep you up — handled with the privacy they deserve, kept between us and tied out to the penny.

05

On time is the whole job

Books by the 10th, payroll on schedule, filings before the agencies ask. A deadline we keep so you never have to track it.

The same two sets of eyes, every month.

When you call, you reach the people who actually close your books — not a queue and not a different name each quarter. We keep our client roster small on purpose, so your month-end never competes for attention.

We’ll learn your business the way you’d want a bookkeeper to: which jobs really pay, when cash tends to tighten, which questions are worth a call and which can wait for the monthly note. Consider that part handled.
